The Early Intervention Program at the University of Oregon has an outstanding faculty and staff. Each of the faculty members has made a significant contribution to the field of Early Intervention through research, publications, outreach, and program development.


Jane Squires

Dr. Jane Squires is an Professor and joined the University in 1988. She has an extensive background in the delivery of services to children who are disabled. Dr. Squires teaches graduate courses in EI/ECSE and directs the EI/ECSE teacher licensure program. She serves as a consultant to the Early Intervention Section, Oregon State Department of Education. Dr. Squires has worked with state level planners throughout the nation to develop child find and monitoring systems to assist with early identification of young children with delays. The Ages and Stages Questionnaire is a parent-completed developmental screening and tracking system that has been widely disseminated and implemented in many areas of the country. Dr. Squires is also the Associate Director of the University Affiliated Program (UAP) at the University of Oregon.

Dr. Diane Bricker

Dr. Diane Bricker joined the University of Oregon in 1978 as a Professor of Special Education and Director of the Early Intervention Program. Dr. Bricker has directed the Early Intervention Program since its inception at the University of Oregon. She teaches graduate level courses, is involved in program development and outreach, and conducts an active research program. She is internationally known and respected for her work on Activity-Based Intervention and the Assessment, Evaluation, and Programming System volumes. In December 1992, Dr. Bricker received the Division of Early Childhood, Council for Exceptional Children Service to the Field Award.

Erin Barton
Erin Barton received her Ph.D degree from the Department of Special Education, Peabody College, Vanderbilt University, Nashville, TN. She holds a B.S. in Human Development from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a M.Ed. in Early Childhood Education from DePaul University in Chicago, IL. She has served as a teacher of young children with autism, a teacher supervisor, teaching assistant, research assistant, and instructor of an undergraduate course. Specific research interests focus on developing and evaluating teacher in-service and pre-service training, teaching play skills to children with disabilities, measuring play behaviors, and serving young children with disabilities in inclusive settings. Her dissertation focused on training teachers to promote pretend play to children with disabilities in inclusive classrooms.

Jantina Clifford

Dr. Clifford is an Assistant Professor at the University of Oregon in the College of Education, department of Early Intervention. She earned both her Master's and Doctoral Degrees from the Early Intervention Program of the Department of Special Education at the University of Oregon. Jantina brings expertise in IRT and measurement development as well as 8 years teaching experience in early childhood classrooms.

Linda Albi

Linda Albi serves as practicum supervisor for the on-campus master's/licensure component. Ms. Albi has a Master's degree in Early Intervention/Special Education and experience as an interventionist in community-based sites. She has served as a supervisor of master's level trainees, instructor of several courses, and serves on the COE Continuous Improvement Coordinating Committee.

Misti Waddell

Misti Waddell has contributed to the development, research, and training of the AEPS since the early 1980s. She has coordinated several federally-funded, field-initiated research projects and outreach training projects. She is currently the project coordinator for the multi-state outreach training grant titled, "Creating and Sustaining Change Across Diverse Early Intervention Settings (CASCADES)."

Liz Twombly

Liz Twombly has a Master's degree in Early Intervention from the University of Oregon and is currently working as a Senior Research Assistant on the development of the Ages and Stages Questionnaire - Social/Emotional. She also provides training on the use of the ASQ throughout the nation to early intervention professionals and administrators, service coordinators, and public health workers who use the ASQ child monitoring system in screening and tracking programs for infants and children who are at risk for developmental delays.

Heidi von Ravensberg

Heidi von Ravensberg has a degree in law and a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Oregon and is currently working as the Diversity/Disability Recruiter to assist in the recruitment and retention of students and faculty from diverse backgrounds and with disabilities for the Early Intervention Masters and Doctoral programs. Heidi also sits on the Special Education Area Recruitment/Retention Group, which develops and implements strategies to increase the recuitment and retention of underrepresented groups in the College of Education (ethnic minorities, males, indviduals with disabiliies). Heidi has been legally blind for most of her life from Retinitis Pigmentosa and Macular Degeneration. She uses a female yelow lab guide dog named Curry.
