I considered staying there and buying a small house, but my boyfriend proposed in April 2005, so as soon as school was finished I moved to Seattle. We will celebrate our 2 year anniversary in July. We bought a condo in Edmonds a year ago and have 2 dogs and a turtle. Kids......give me a year or two more! This is my third year teaching and I love it more and more everyday. I work at a really small school, but have great support from my assistants, supervisor, principal and co-workers. My future plans: In 2008-2009 I plan on starting the process to get my National Board Certification. It will be tough, but I like a good challenge! |

| Bio: | After graduating in 1997, I went to work for Portland Public Schools Early Intervention Program. I was an ECSE at Holladay Center and Beach Elementary for 2 years, teaching integrated preschool classrooms, consulting to community organizations and doing assessment on children ages 0-5. I took a leave of absence and went to work as a contractor for SAIC then Sterling Medical for 3 years in Landstuhl Germany. There I was NICU liasion, Child Find Coordinator, Senior ECSE serving children 0-3 who were from military families. I also complete assessments, ran playgroups and consulted with community members such as child development centers. I went back to the states in 2003 and worked for MESD for 2 years in SW Portland and Peninsula school. I worked as a classroom teacher. I attended WSU in 2004-05 and completed half of my administrators certificate program before I was asked to work for DoDDs (Department of Defense Schools). I was assigned to Yokosuka, Japan (near Tokyo)and worked as a preschool teacher for 2 years and was then sent to Harrogate,England to work as the SPED department Chairperson and Sped Assessor for student ages 5-21 (grades pre-k to 12th grade) In addition to those 2 positions this year, I also teach learning impaired students grades k-2, I likely will stay in this position for an extended time since I am engaged to a British man. I do know that next year I will not be teaching LI but will be teaching AVID to high schoolers. I have had a very exciting and wonderful career so far and am looking forward to completing my administrators certificate in the next year! |
