Lane County Workgroup - About
The FEAT Lane County Medical Workgroup is a group in Lane County that will focus specifically on issues related to infants born and identified as affected by illegal substances. This Perinatal Working Group will consist of representatives from local county hospitals (Sacred Heart, McKenzie Willamette), Child Welfare, public health (Babies First), and drug and alcohol and mental health services (Lane County Health and Human Services ), Early Intervention (ECCARES) and wraparound treatment services for families (Lane County Relief Nursery) and parents who have been in the Child Welfare system. During the first year, this county working group would be on a parallel process with the state level team, but refining policies and procedures at a county level. Lane County Child Welfare is currently working on a fifth draft of a protocol for ensuring the safety of infants of "high risk" pregnancies (i.e., mothers with a history of substance abuse and/or domestic violence, significant developmental delays, mental health issues, etc.). Both of the major hospitals in Lane County (e.g., Sacred Heart and McKenzie Willamette) have internal systems to track high risk pregnancies.
