Postnatal Workgroup - Meeting Minutes

- Current Policies and Procedures
- The group didn't talk a lot yet about this and will discuss further at the next meeting. Some of the points mentioned are as follows:
- System Strengths
- Sharri mentioned that the Relief Nursery recently received a large SAMHSA grant that may be able to direct some of its resources to SEN identified areas.
- Problem Areas/Opportunities for Change
- Both Naoko and Susie Day talked about gaps in services for Teen Parents. This could be an area to focus efforts. Susie mentioned a group in San Diego that had an innovative program related to teens, somehow linked with the Sheriff department.
- Discussion related to need for more information from hospitals and medical professionals for receiving caregivers.

- Paula Mashad talked about the importance of keeping judges up to speed on this grant and involved as much as they can be. She will keep Kip Leonard and Doug Mitchell informed about grant activities and try to elicit their input along the way.

- Review Innovative Postnatal Practices handout
- Complete the Postnatal Matrix and prepare to report to postnatal group on your ideas
- Collect relevant policies and procedures and make copies for group or send them to Kris and Liz so that they can make copies
